Measure the space first

Measure the flat area where the plaque will go, then choose the size that leaves a margin all round. A5 is half a sheet of A4 paper; holding a sheet of paper in place is a quick way to check.

Choose the size for the words

Short bench dedications fit 150 × 50 mm; a name, dates and a tribute suit A5; formal dedications, openings and lists of names need A4 or larger. If the proof looks crowded, go up a size rather than making the lettering smaller.

Then the finish and backing

Brushed or polished stainless steel stays silver; brushed, polished, orbital and aged brass are warm and traditional. Wood backing suits indoors or a sheltered spot; metal on its own is made for outdoors.

What is the most popular plaque size?

For memorials and house names, A5 (210 × 148 mm). For benches, 150 × 50 mm or 225 × 75 mm. For openings and formal dedications, A4 (297 × 210 mm).

Do you make other sizes?

Yes. Message us on WhatsApp with the size, shape and wording, and we’ll design it and send you a free proof with the price.

Can I see my plaque before I pay?

Yes. Create your layout in the online designer, with no account or payment needed. Check names, dates, line breaks and fixing positions, then download your proof PDF if you need time to decide. The PDF includes a link to return to your design. If we design it for you, we send you the proof to approve before you pay. The proof is for approving wording and layout; screen colours and texture previews are illustrative.

What is included in the price?

Standard plaque prices include engraving, standard fixings and UK delivery. Wood backing, special finishes and other extras are priced in the designer before checkout.

How long will my plaque take?

Standard production is estimated at 5 working days from proof approval and payment. Standard aged-brass plaques are estimated at 7 working days; A4/A5 with wood backing at 10; custom sizes and other wood-backed plaques at 15. Your selected options determine the estimate shown before checkout. These are production estimates, with delivery time additional. Contact us before ordering for a fixed event date.

Which material should I choose for outdoors?

Brass gives a warm, traditional appearance and develops character over time. Stainless steel has a clean silver finish. Both can be used outdoors with suitable fixings. Choose the finish you prefer and check the fixing options in your proof.
